Off the Rails ...

Off the Rails this month featured an unusual mood board with an added criteria of up cycling something.

April Challenge

I was drawn to a number of things from these images - the colours, the butterfly and the medallion shape which I have tried to feature on my page.  My up cycle item is a piece of braid and a couple of playing cards which I had only sorted into a throw out bag this week (and had to retrieve) as they were missing a few cards from the pack.

Heading out to dinner to celebrate my daughter's 20th birthday.

Scrapbook Boutique ...

A pretty mood board on Scrapbook Boutique this month featuring lots of lovely pretty colours.

I couldn't resist using some of them on a card ...

Scrap the Boys ...

The challenge on Scrap the Boys this month is all about our boys helping helping each other.  I immediately knew I had the perfect photos for this challenge.

My son is into computers and he has successfully ordered parts and then self built both his own, his Dad's and his sisters computers (with a little assistance from Dad who would not be left out of the fun).

I have done this page as a single main page and then added the other photos as a set of 6 in a 6x12 page protector which will sit along side of this page.  I do this a lot when I have a significant amount of photos of one event but don't wish to do a lot of pages for it or find some of the photos are meaningful to the event but not necessarily as stand alone pages.

The Boys Rule paper collection was perfect for this page.

Coffee Run - CSI #228

Finally putting together a paper based page for CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration Case File 228.  I really liked the scene in this one and thought hard about how I could combine elements of this with my dh as subject matter.  Scrolling through my photos I came across this one he had sent through one morning saying the coffee shop in his office building was fairly jumping that morning - seemed everyone was eager for a morning brew!

Here is how I solved the case ...

Scheme - Colours covered.

Evidence - Chevrons, transparent stuff, puffy stickers.

Testimony - Journal about your husband.

Top 50 in April ...

Playing along with Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia this month with this rather cool challenge.

I have always figured our cats have the best life.  Our big boy just loves toasting himself in the sunshine.  He'll find patches of sun in our hallway and just plonk himself, paws out, enjoying those rays.

Black background, white paint, arrows, stars,

Great Explorations - CSI #227

I really enjoy the CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration challenges and after guesting with them in March with both of their monthly challenges,  #227 caught my eye this month and I thought the colour combinations would be perfect for another travel related photograph from our family vacation to Tasmania in 2013 - gosh is it really four years ago we made this fantastic trip?

Here is how I solved the case ...

Scheme - Colours covered.

Evidence - Circular elements (my pinked circles), wood (butterflies and one of the tags), flowers and frames (on main photo and as accents).

Testimony - Put your story in a frame.

ARTastic in April ...

This month on ARTastic we feature an ANZAC tribute artwork by Kenneth MacQueen called Wild Poppies.  Our criteria is to use pops of red on your page.

CRITERIA - Pops of red

We'd love to see your entries - this isn't difficult, just add some splashes of red to your layouts - this can be paint or ink, or enamel dots, rhinestones or even buttons.  Add some flowers, hearts or stars in red.  It can be any theme at all it doesn't have to be related to a memorial day.

Here is my page ...

In 2015 and 2016 a local community group undertook a massive "Poppy Poject" to handmake thousands and thousands of poppies for the 100 Year anniversary of Gallipoli and WW1. These were made with crepe paper and a lot were done with crochet - a truly massive job.

Now it is your turn, we'd love to see your own interpretation. You have until 11.55pm on the last day of the month to submit your entry.

Pixels and Paper in April ...

This month on Pixels and Paper we are celebrating Easter on Pixels and Paper with this cute inspiration image.  Your page certainly doesn't have to be about chocolate or bunnies, it can be about family gatherings, school Easter hat parades, egg hunts, trips away over this holiday period, fun things you did with the kids, whatever you like really - just don't forget to tell us what inspired you from our photograph.

CRITERIA - An Easter theme

Here is my Easter inspired page ...

I was inspired by the colours in the egg and the chocolate of course!

Hope you can come play along with us.

White .. with 1 in April ...

After rain, rain and a bit more rain on the east coast of Australia during March, a tropical cyclone up north, widespread flooding and generally plain awful weather I think it might be time for some blue skies and sunshine. Blues skies like this in April would be nice ....

In fact layouts featuring this gorgeous HELIUM BLUE would be very welcome indeed - so come and join in with us on White ...with 1 this month.

We hope you like our inclusion of a sketch to help inspire you further.  You don't have to use this to put in an entry but we'd love it if you do :)
