Sweet fairytale ...

Sharing my layout for CSI Case File 267 - loved the colours of the inspiration and the magical whimsey of the little countdown calendar :).

There is nothing quite so magical as a Christmas light display!

Naughty or Nice ?

Playing along with Scrap the Boys this month where the theme is Naughty or Nice.

The OMG could stand for the 98% nice 2% naughty (although in the case of our tabby cat it may well be the other way around) but also for the fact that they NEVER ever sit side by side peacefully - however the lure of the box the Christmas tree is stored in was just too fascinating to resist!

An unstampabelle Christmas ...

Joining in with the challenge on Unstampabelles this month where they are asking us to portray a ...

Christmas theme for your Country
Twist - explain the theme in your blog

I am not sure we in Australia have a particular theme - it is more about what we don't do than anything else. As it is summer here at Christmas time most of the country is hot, hot, hot so we don't relate at all to snowy scenes, snowmen, snowflakes or anything else wintery. Hot chocolate is replaced with cold drinks and pine forests glittering with snow with beach scenes of kids in swimming gear. I guess we also tend to use brighter, happier Christmas colours for our cards and layouts - it is just a shame so many of the Christmas themed products are all geared to the northern hemisphere winter.

I have used bright and happy papers to show my children opening their stockings Christmas morning.

Fun ...

I am playing along with the Scrapbookit challenge for November which involves ..

FUN
FLOWERS
FIVE EMBELLISHMENTS

I think my family up a tree can be classed as fun :)

I have flowers on two of my patterned papers as well as physical flowers on my page.

My five embellishments I took as meaning five types of embellishments as this wasn't clear and it appears the DT went this route.

Spray ink on the background
Die cuts
Brads
Enamel hearts
Journal spot stickers

This happened ...

Loved the bold colours and strong use of black on the November moodboard for Scrapping Clearly this month.

No automatic alt text available.

I decided to run with these colours for my own page featuring our rather spoilt felines.

ARTastic November ...

Our November inspiration on ARTastic comes to you from Arthur Baker Clack with "The Citadel, St Tropez".

Image may contain: plant, outdoor and nature
CRITERIA - Use paint or ink

The painting held a real holiday vibe for me so I have used some happy vacation snaps of our trip to Tasmania a few years ago.  There is no patterned paper on this layout - my background was created using ink and stickers.

Hope you can play along.

Awesome ...

Sharing my page made for Off the Rails Scrapbooking this month using this moodboard and criteria of "Recycled".

October Challenge

I pulled out a draw I have that contained pieces f ephemera - old tickets, library cards, receipts, vouchers etc to use in place of patterned paper and then added in salvaged buttons from my button jar and a few other bits and pieces.  I used the teal, green and yellow from the moodboard.

Sweet Boy ...

Joining in with the challenge on Scrap the Boys this month with this rather lovely blue and pink moodboard.

I loved the whimsical feel of this colour combination and more to prove to myself that it was indeed possible to create a boys page in these colours decided to have a go.

I pulled out some papers from Shimelle's Starshine collection along with a selection of sequins, enamels dots and hearts and acrylic stars and basically went to town.  I really like what I have created.

Snow and wood ...

Archiscraps have based their challenge for October on this image ...

Snow and wood ... so I pulled out a series of photos of my kids experiencing snow for the very first time, teamed it with some wood veneer snow flakes I had in my stash and was beginning to think I would never get used and also used the colour scheme seen in the photo.

ARTastic October ...

Our October inspiration on ARTastic comes to you from Lyn Butchart with a piece called Green Peacock.

CRITERIA -  Monochromatic (can be any colour)
Feel free to use black, white, kraft or navy as your accent colours.

Monochromatic colours are all the colours (tones, tints and shades ) of a single hue.

I decided to do something a little different and got out my container of washi and put them to good use!

Hope you can find time to play along.

CSI 262 ...

This was so cute I just had to participate in the CSI Challenge #262 this month.

and I did something a little bit challenging ....

which involved a KI Memories die cut page I have been hoarding forever, a couple of circle punches, left over odd project life cards, glue and lots and lots of patience ...

and I truly love the result ...

Meet Miss Bella - our much loved family member.

I scream, you scream ....

I couldn't resist doing a page for Off the Rails Scrapbooking this month which was focusing on food.

I used a section of the colours in the moodboard to create a page about birthday celebrations at my daughter's work - gelato instead of cake, what a great way to celebrate!

A little fruity ...

Playing along this month with Archi-scraps using their inspiration image and criteria of fruit.

I was inspired by the colours of orange, yellow and line green as well as the circles to create a page about one of the things I really like about cruising - the fruit based cocktails!  I also used some plastic fruit embellishments that worked perfectly for this page.

ARTastic September ...

It is Father's Day here in Australia tomorrow and as a tribute to the males in our lives our September inspiration on ARTastic comes to you from Robert Haganand is called The mentor.

CRITERIA - Let's celebrate the males in our lives

Beach scenes and seagulls always remind me of fish and chips at the beach.  I've used the same colours of variations of blue with sand and added a splash of red for the bucket.

Hope you can join in with us this month.

Sweet ...

I've enjoyed playing along with Scrap the Girls this month with this really striking mood board and lovely colour palette.

 Current Challenge

I focused on the colours, added in a bright stripey paper that gave the feel of the zebra pattern and focused on the image of the girl with downcast eyes.

CSI for August ...

Playing along with both challenges on CSI this month.

For #260 I have completed a cruise vacation page using the colour palette and taking a number of items from the evidence list - stripes, anchor, gold (spray), labels, transportation embellies, travel themed elements.

For #259 I ran with the colours to help inspire me to document a day trip for my dd and her bf.

Seriously wild ...

I truly wasn't sure what to do with the challenge on Scrap the Boys this month.  It really had me thinking.

Eventually I decided just to go with the basic colour scheme of teal and black (and threw in yellow and a brighter green as a bit of contrast) and went with the theme, selecting a photo of my son hamming it up at the Australian Museum and being seriously WILD :)

Going tribal ...

I am joining in with the challenge on Off the Rail Scrapbooking this month.  It is an unusual moodboard to say the least ...

August Challenge

and I wasn't at all sure how to run with this one until I focused on the top right photo which in some ways reminded me of many of the photos my daughter took when she visited Fiji for an end of school "make a difference" trip some years ago.

I took the green from the background and went with a "going tribal" theme to match in with the obligatory braided and beaded hair !

This page is composed of project life cards - I have such a massive stash I just need to used them up in some way.

31 July 2018

Winter by the Sea ...

I really liked the mood board on Off the rails Scrapbooking this month - so cool and crisp.

July Challenge

I live by the coast so no snow for me and the very few ski trip photos I have are long since scrapped so I decided to scrap about Winter by the Sea, added in some blue, used a kraft background as a nod to the colour in the owl image and added in lots of snowflakes.

Screen Time ...

I am playing along with Scrapbook Boutique and their mood board this month - so many ideas for this one.  I thought I might have had a little fox embellishment somewhere but after scouring my stash it was not to be - of course one will come to light the very next time I look - such is life!

Eventually I decided to focus on the keyboard and take some of the muted colours from the images.

30 May 2018

Love ...

I couldn't resist the birthday themed moodboard on Scrap the Girls this month.  I was particularly taken with the overall colour scheme of pink, yellow, grey, black and white along with the cake and scrapped a birthday page of my dd.

Cherish ...

Playing along with the mood board challenge from Off the Rails Scrapbooking this month.

I was inspired by the colours from these images - the orange, black, grey and touches of yellow.

Kraft + for May ...

Playing along with Kraft + this month with their "It's a date" challenge.

I tried to think of a date that really means something each year and of course as well as obligatory birthdays there is no greater date than the heralding in of a brand new year.

10 February 2018

Loving ABBA ..

Oh my gosh ABBA !!  I so loved ABBA, I can remember lots of parties where songs from ABBA featured strongly and the many, many weeks that Fernando remained on Number 1 on Countdown.  They were epic and I am so pleased thanks to film and stage and many revival acts the music of this amazing group remains strong today.

So thank you ABBA for the special memories and the amazing music and Kraft + for this fantastic February challenge.
