A little list ...

October challenge for Scrap Africa

List It - You must create a project (layout, card or off the page) that includes a list. Your list must have at least 10 items.

Aren't these little guys the cutest?  Hard to realise it is 20 odd years ago when the six of us would meet up for a morning of baby time.

Brrrrr ...

The challenge at Tando Creative this month is a theme of Cold as Ice.  And I was sure I needed to create something suitably cold looking.

White and ice blue on silver glitter showing a lovely wintery snow filled scene.  I think that might be cold enough :)

A little night magic ...

I very much enjoy the tic tac toe style challenges on 123 Get Scrappy and try to play along most months.  This month we are working with a perfect panel pertaining to P's !!

And I have been a little cheeky this month - choosing to go on the diagonal using pink, pumpkin and purple with my own little twist :)  using pumpkin as a colour as well as a element feature on my page.

This dazzling display is part of a huge Christmas light spectacular held every year in the Hunter Valley Gardens about an hour from where I live.  And this gorgeous creation is Cinderella's "pumpkin" coach pulled by two magnificent magical steeds.  It is more than fit for a Princess !!

Hope you can find time to play along.

123 Get Scrappy is also holding a DT call - details can be found on their blog.

A final challenge at Lasting Memories...

Our final challenge this month at  Lasting Memories is Trick or Treat.  It can be about Halloween, or using Halloween colours, or just use the theme of  "trick" or "treat".  We tend not to celebrate Halloween in Australia where I live, so I have done my page all about treats.

Feeling hungry anyone?

Hope you can join in with us with this challenge or any of the others we have for you in October.

Forever and always ...

Playing along with 123 Challenge Blog this month with this inspiration criteria.

I had no set idea when I sat down to create my page - it just sort of came together from bits and pieces I had on my desk and in my "throw it in here cause I can't be bothered to put it away" bowl and I have to admit I really like what has come from my creative play.

Some boy technology ...

The October challenge at Scrap the Boys is:

TECHNOLOGY SAVVY - think Ipods, Phones, Ipads, X Box!

Oh yes plenty of photographs of those in this household - little boys with technology, big boys with technology, bigger boys with technology ... it never really stops!

Here is my page with son proudly displaying his new phone - thank goodness he saved up and bought this one himself.

Berry picking memories ...

I came across this delightful image on The Craft Garden this month and knew I absolutely had to do a page about it.

This picture brought back so many happy memories of picking blackberries with my parents when I was young.  There was an old abandoned homestead on the rural property I was raised on and in the overgrown remnants of the garden was a mass of blackberry bushes.  We had to be super careful of not only the thorns but also of the potential for snakes in the undergrowth but WOW did those berries taste great!

Also entering this layout in the challenge over on Creative Craft Cottage where I have used three of the colours from the palette and buttons, glitter (on the sticker strip behind the photo) and a tag.

We would like you to use the colour palette or  use at least 3                           from the bingo card for inspiration.

A little Child's Play in October ....

Child's Play Challenges will now be posted on the 1st and 15th of the month
and you will have the whole month to enter the challenges.

15th challenge

Our challenge today is brought to you by Alice in Wonderland.  If you're not familiar with this story, it's about a girl named Alice who falls down into a rabbit hole and enters a fantasy world full of peculiar creatures. Talk about a plethora of inspiration, right?!?

and here is my page ...

What is Alice in Wonderland without a Mad Hatter's tea party?

Hope you can swing past and play along with us.

1st challenge

It's time for a classic toy challenge.  Do you remember this song?

All around the mulberry bush,
the monkey chased the weasel
the monkey thought
it was all in good fun
Pop! Goes the weasel

Or do you just remember
Jack in the Box?

Do you have a memory about this toy? Did you know the words to the song? Does it remind you of something in your stash? We would like you to create a LO inspired by Jack in the Box.
Here is how our team was inspired. For more information about their layouts, click on their name for a link to their blog.

Here is my page ...

This little guy reminded me very much of a clown toy my daughter had as a little person.  Her clown had lots of dressing skills attached to him/her to help her learn new and exciting skills.

Hope you can play along with us this month.

Going off the rails ...

I am sharing with you a layout (spread) I did for Off the Rails Scrapbooking for this moodboard challenge for October.

A fun filled day out at Luna Park when my children were much smaller than they are now.

I use this technique quite a lot in my albums.  Rather than create double pages or additional pages for a specific event I will do one feature page and then slot the remaining photographs into a pocket page - sometimes a full 12x12 and other times a 6x12.  I'll use bit and pieces left over from the layout (embellishments, tiny pieces of scrap paper, stickers etc) to join them together.

Lasting Memories and a little freaky ...

It is an anything goes theme at Lasting Memories this week.  Yes, anything at all.  You are able to submit any entry based on ANY theme,  ANY product or technique and ANY colours you like and best of all we happily allow you to combine your challenge with others which is exactly what I have done with my own.

Another freaking scrappy challenge has asked for layouts based on "What makes you happy?"  and I can say categorically, having some quiet time to myself and relaxing in warm soapy bubbles, sipping on a glass of vino while listening to my favourite music most definitely and positively makes me happy :)

A little French ...

When I saw the October challenge over on Gauche Alchemy I got excited ... not only because I really loved the moodboard but also because I knew I had THE perfect paper to work with and THE perfect theme to use.

mixed media challenge October moon

I have had these paper die cuts strips in my stash like forever - I never knew quite what to do with them - they were of a really specific genre, time period and theme and they just sat there looking at me.  Whatever I used them for had to be a little quirky, a little old fashioned and decidedly French.

and then October at Gauche came along and we'll it all fell neatly into place.

Moulin Rouge in Paris ... a little quirky, a little old fashioned and most definitely a whole lot of French !!

Lasting Memories #211 ...

This week over on  Lasting Memories the theme is the Beauty of Friendship and the challenge is to scrap a layout about friends, either yours or your children's.

I have done a simple page celebrating a friendship of my  son's.  Looking at the page now I have decided I will add the Number 2 above the title - sometimes you have to step back and look at a page again to make it just right.

Hope you can celebrate a friendship with us too - we'd love to see your page.

A Pixels and Paper October ...

And welcome to another month of this super fast year.

I think you will all like our inspiration photograph for October on Pixels and Paper.  What fun ways can you come up with to interpret this image.  Using the colours of pink, blue and green perhaps.  Or using lots of flowers on your page.  Maybe you like the idea of highlighting a teapot or drinking tea or a collection of glass jars in your kitchen.  Perhaps this image conjures are memories of family traditions or a specific family heirloom - a treasured teacup or teaspoon possibly.

Here is my page ...

I was drawn to the concept of tea - I love a good "cuppa" and both my children know this which is why tea featured heavily in my birthday gifts from them this year.

Whatever the inspiration, we would love to see your work - come on over and play along with us.  Please don't forget to tell us what it was that caught your eye from the above photograph.

ARTastic in October ....

and a big, hearty welcome to yet another new month.

This month we are being inspired by this delightful artwork Under a jacaranda tree (1903) by R Godfrey Rivers.

Criteria is using a vintage photo (more than 30 years old) but if you can't readily find one of these a vintage style layout will be fine.

A little about R Godfrey Rivers ...

and here is my page ...

I was inspired by the gorgeous jacaranda colours in the artwork and have used a lovely photograph of my parents when they were in their 20's.  I just love the fashions of this era and how much pride they took in their appearance when going out.  I think this was a day at the local races.

Please upload the DIRECT link to your actual entry with the link tool on the blog by 11.55pm on October 31st, 2014.  We'd love to see your new paper, digital, or off the page entries.  Please no back-dated submissions.  I am happy for you to combine with other challenges (maximum of 3) but the essence of the ARTastic inspirational artwork must be clear in your work. Combining with a sketch or colour challenge would be preferred. International submissions are welcome.
