A little Joy ...

Playing along with Soul Scrappers TTT54 for December.

Using the right vertical line of Designer paper (years old KI Memories Festive range), ribbon and the word Joy ...

A little bit Christmas ...

Playing along with Soul Scrappers GRAB 5 for December.

GRAB5 is a challenge where you GRAB 5 older things from your stash to scrap.

You must, must, must use them on a project, scrap page, card set etc...what ever crafty thing you are up to!

The 5 things can be anything from your stash (the older the better!!),

OR anything you are yet to use!!

So I am using these ....

to create this ...

Easy !!

Scrap the Boys for December ...

December usually means lots and lots of Christmas challenges in the scrappy world.  Scrap the Boys has another great one and as I am way behind in getting Christmas related layouts done (like years behind !!) I took this opportunity to get another one into the Christmas album.

I think always think joy when I see happy smiling faces at Christmas time and I think most little boys think joy in anticipation of what might be inside those precious Santa sacks :)

Scrap the Girls in December ...

Well you can always count on Scrap the Girls to come up with an interesting challenge and this month's is no exception. The emphasis was SIMPLICITY.

Current Challenge

So that is what I did - I kept it simple, really really simple and focused on the colours and the leaves.

Zip it up ...

Archi-scraps has quite the challenge this month - to use a zipper on your layout none the less.  Wow, that a) took some thinking about and b) took quite a bit of searching the house for a zipper and I'm happy to say I eventually found one, short and in black so another challenge to work this onto a page somehow.

I decided to use a black, white and pink theme and to also use up some acetate pieces that have been siting in my stash for far too long.  I layered strips of paper and incorporated the zipper in among them.

I then added a little surprise bird flair revealed by the zip to highlight the theme of the page - our little cat, Bella, getting super excited at all the birds in the backyard trees.

An ARTastic December ...

Welcome to December and our final challenge of 2019 on ARTastic.  This month our inspiration comes to you from Marg Whyte with "Trimming the tree".

CRITERIA -  Please use Stars and Ribbon

I ran with the "tree" theme and added in ribbon and stars for a bright and bold layout.

I hope you can find some time this very busy month to play along with our challenge using stars and ribbon.

What's in the bickie tin for December ...

What's in the Bickie Tin for December ...

The colour Green
Add some Bling
Use some ribbon

This month I have continued to delve into the dim, dark recesses of my overflowing stash and pulled out the remains of a Scenic Route kit (another company that ceased to be many, many years ago).  I am honestly not sure why I hang onto bits of card stock, off cut papers, left over embellishments in the hope "they may come in useful someday"!  Well today was the day to create some bright, happy Christmas cards - it is December after all!

Hope you can play along with us this month.

Scrap the boys in November ...

Playing along with Scrap the Boys this month with a challenge all about the super heros in our lives.

Perfect opportunity to do a layout about my son - being his own version of a super hero - it was all about  the cape after all (and shhhh, I didn't have the heart to tell him it was the cape from his older sister's Little Red Riding Hood dressup ... repurposed :))

Scrap the Girls in November ...

Playing along with Scrap the Girls this month which has a really unusual and somewhat thought provoking challenge called "The Hangover".

I decided to take a slightly different approach to this theme.  I also used the grey and white colour scheme of the first photo with a touch of blue as contrast.

A few years back I went through a stressful period in my life which resulted in not sleeping very well at all.  I would inevitably wake at 3am most mornings and no matter what I tried it was impossible to get back to sleep.  I spend a lot of time sitting in the dark of our lounge room catching up on recorded tv.  Thankfully the stress passed as did the poor sleeping but it was a period of daily "hangovers" I have no wish to repeat.

ARTastic November ...

This month our inspiration on ARTastic comes to you from Kristin Hardiman with "Stream out of the barriers".

CRITERIA -  Black and White

Please remember - You may combine your entry with 3 other challenges only.

I have gone with the "racing" theme and used a photo of my son competing at a local swimming carnival from a few years ago.  I kept this page very simple as I wanted the photo and the words to speak for themselves.

Hope you can find some time to play along with us this month.  Don't forget we also have a Creative Team call happening and we'd love to see your application.

A black and white November ...

Got to admit to being a lover of black and white, from old vintage papers to new trendy stuff, so I like to add it into the mix at White with 1 once a year and November is THE month.

 Introducing ....

We hope you like our inclusion of a mood board to help inspire you ... we'd love to see some element or idea (think shapes, textures, theme) taken from here to add to your page.

I have taken some of the elements from the moodboard and incorporated them into my layout.  Hope you can find time to play along with us this month.

Don't forget we have a Design Team call going on at White with 1, pop past the blog for all the details.

What's in the bickie tin for November ...

This month's requirements are:

Include the colour Red - a little or lot, it's up to you
Add a Die-cut
Have a torn edge or two

Create a layout, a set of 3 cards or any OTP item you wish!

Super thrilled to be part of this new venture.

For our first challenge I thought I might take the opportunity of using up some old supplies from my stash - does anyone remember Hamby Screen Print transparencies?  I have a small pile of these – they are so old the company is no longer in existence so I may well be overdue in using one!  To these, I have added a rose die cut and paper from a rather dated Prima collection and did some edge tearing and bending.  I am very happy with the result. Hope this might inspire you to get out those older supplies and reduce that stash.

Lace and old photos ...

I really liked the moodboard on Creative Embellishments this month - so soft and subtle.  I have been clearing out a lot of my older stash and I knew I had paper that would work with this colour scheme, might as well use them up eh!  The criteria was to add lace.

I took the general colours and the idea of featuring a dress and used older Basic Grey papers on craft cardstock and a photo of my parents in law on their wedding day.  Old lace and trim and flowers with some wood veneers completed my page.

October Archiscraps ...

Playing along with Archiscraps this month which has a distressing challenge or should I say a challenge all about distressing :)

I have torn, ripped and inked my card.

An October ARTastic ...

On ARTastic this month our inspiration comes to you from Grace Cossington Smith with The Window 1956.

CRITERIA - Please use FRAMES

For my page I added a frame to showcase the photo and used the orange based colours from the artwork.

Hope you can play along with us at ARTastic this month.

Friends ...

Enjoyed putting a layout together for the challenge on Creative Embellishments this month taking inspiration from the below image.

I was inspired by the hot air balloons, clouds and general colours from this piece to document a friendship.  These two boys live a very long way apart yet each time they get together it is like it was only yesterday - they immediately pick up from where they left off before.  It is lovely to witness.

Dream Big ...

Enjoyed putting a layout together for the challenge on Creative Embellishments this month taking inspiration from the below image and adding in wood.

I decided to concentrate on several of the colours in this piece - the orange, teal and blue as well as focusing on the face image from the image.  I also included a number of clouds on my page as well as wood veneer pieces.  I used a photo of my son with a group of boys from the swim club he belonged to a few years ago.

Archiscraps for April ...

Archiscraps have an interesting challenge this month to SQUEEZE SOMETHING IN BETWEEN.

I decided to go with the approach of putting something between the two photos on my page and I must say I do like the effect.

Soul Scrappers ...

Playing along with a few challenges on Soul Scrappers this month.

*  Participating in the Random Word challenge.

I used Today to showcase an "everyday" page - 1 chore today.

*  I love the concept of GRAB 5 - a great way to use up some older supplies.

Here is what I used ...

and this is the end result ...

* I always like Tic Tac Toe style challenges - great fun mixing things up a bit.

For this one  (TTT47) I used Yellow - Paper Scraps and Ink splatters.

Scrap the Girls in April ...

Playing along with Scrap the Girls with their somewhat quirky challenge for April.

I took this to mean dressing up or putting your best foot forward for an occasion and did a page of my daughter dolled up ready for a night out with her friends.

Scrap the Girls ...

A pretty mood board / colour palette on Scrap the Girls this month with an interesting quote.

Current Challenge

I loved the colours and was particularly taken by the line "heart of a warrior" as all these beautiful girls (along with my own daughter) a decade later have grown up to be amazing, strong women, with successful careers and really bright futures.

So tiny ...

You forget how tiny they were, how absolutely precious and oh so very small.  This is how I felt as I was looking through some albums trying to find a suitable photograph for the January challenge on Off the Rails Scrapbooking this month.

January Challenge
I liked the peachy pink and aqua tones with touches of yellow in the moodboard and based my page on this colour scheme using up some older supplies. I have made a pact with myself to try and clear what I have in my stash before buying more in.

(you all know how that is going to end now don't you !)

ARTastic for January ...

Our first inspiration for 2019 on ARTastic is this fantastic abstract painting by Chris Vella called Joy.

The Criteria is to use yellow, blue and orange.

Here is my take on the challenge inspired by those colours ...

Hope you can play along with us this month.
