What's in the bickie tin for December ...

Welcome to our December's inspiration on What's in the bickie tin?

This month inspirations are:

Colours - Silver and/or Gold.  Use as little or as much as you like.
Add a Bow
Use a stamp

Well finding a bow was somewhat of a challenge - you'd think in a stash my size there would be a bow, any bow, somewhere now wouldn't you but it took some deep digging to find one and then it turned out to be blue.  So what to do?  Find some gold and blue patterned paper so it co-ordinates of course!

I've added in some gold stamping and a few puffy starbursts, enamel dots and blue rhinestones.  I think it has come together rather nicely!

Hope you can play along with us this month.

We all love butterflies ...

Playing along with UnstampaBelles this month with their Believe theme and unusual card fold.

This is a Slimline Concertina card fold and is simple to make but extremely effective.  I've used gold and pale peach patterned papers with a gold cardstock base and added a really sweet butterfly motive - everyone loves butterflies don't they?

What's in the bickie tin for November ...

Welcome to our November Challenge for What's in the bickie tin?

This month's requirements are:

Colours: Purple & Grey
Add a button
Use a border punch

I have very, very little purple based patterned paper so needed to resort to supplementing what I did have in scraps with solid cardstock along with using spray ink to create a purple based background on my white cardstock.  The grey I have used as border strips, two punched and two straight cut as well as as a mat for my photo.

Hope you can play along with us this month.

Bee Beautiful ...

Playing along with Scrap the Girls this month with their Breast Cancer Awareness challenge.

This was really cute but I didn't have any boob related photos I could share so focused on the bees using some sweet bee patterned paper and some adorable bee embellishment stickers.

October - What's in the bickie tin? ...

Welcome to our October Challenge for What's in the bickie tin?

This month's requirements are:

Colours: Black and Orange
Layering
Fussy Cutting

I pulled out all the orange and black patterned paper I had in my scrap basket and layered them together.  My edges are washi tape and I fussy cut two butterflies from patterned paper and used this adorable photo of my daughter's calico kitten - how fortuitous Miss Tilly happens to be black, white and orange !!

Playing along with a number of Soul Scrappers challenges currently.

The first is MBC#30 - Use triangles.
Loving these sweet little guys - new additions to my daughter's household.

GDTSEPT - Use your scraps

I have a paper file filled with scraps of patterned paper and I pulled the patterned papers on this page from it - there's some Shimelle, Little Yellow Bicycle, Pink Paislee, Crate Paper and even some very old October Afternoon.

RW47 - Random words

I have used huggable.

I have used the line - washi, group photo and circles.

September What's in the bickie tin? ...

Welcome to our September Challenge for What's in the bickie tin?

This month's requirements are:

Colours: Green & White
Add splatters
Add a die-cut

This month I have had a ramble down memory lane and pulled out some left over kits items from Jillibean Soup - I've always loved their bright, happy colours which are perfect for a playful boys page.

I added green ink splatters to my white cardstock and included some very cute Monster Stew journaling sprouts also from Jillibean soup.

Hope you can play along with us this month.

Soul Scrappers ...

Playing along with a number of Soul Scrappers challenges currently.

The first is GDAUG with Dale who has asked for the following criteria:

1. It should be nature based.
2. Please use a punch (you can use more than one if you'd like to)
3. Add a bee or a butterfly
4. Use more than one photo
5. Add dimension

I've used a series of photos taken at a local park which was the original pioneer cemetary for my area - some of the headstones here date back to the early 1800's.

I've punched some butterflies from patterned paper and added dimension by raising the butterfly die cut with pop dots.  I have also punched out some labels to add in between the photo rows.

second is GDJULY with Jen who has asked for a layout about Covid 19 Lockdown.

I have used some of Pinkfresh Studio Let's stay home range and some bits from my stash to document "Testing Times".

August What's in the bickie tin? ...

Welcome to our August Challenge for What's in the bickie tin?

This month's requirements are:

Colours: Grey & Yellow
Distressing
Add a heart

A simple page this month again using up some older pieces from my stash where I happened upon a grey and yellow heart patterned paper (yay bonus!) I used along with a couple of "yet to scrap" photos from my files.

I distressed the edges of the kraft cardstock and yellow paper and lightly inked them as well then added in some enamel dots and two tiny heart stickers.

Hope to see all your layouts in our gallery.

Archi-scraps for July ...

Archi-scraps has a ART DECO theme as it's challenge this month.

The Art Deco period heavily featured black and gold and strong geometrical prints.  I have used a strip of transparency behind my photo and stamped onto my background paper to enhance the gold. A few strategically placed gold brads help to lift the page.  I inked my chipboard title in black.

I have also used a time period appropriate photo of my father and his sister on the family farm in the mid 1930's when children.

July What's in the bickie tin ...

Welcome to our July Challenge for What's in the bickie tin?

This month's requirements are:

Colours: Black & Blue
Add a string
Add a tag
This month I pulled out my 6x6 paper pads and selected papers from amongst these. I created my tags myself from smaller pieces and used back cardstock as my base.

TIP
If you want your paper longer and you know some of it will be covered completely by photos or other patterned paper anyway, just cut it in half and move it down like I have done with my backing paper - it is 6x6 but cut and moved it creates the illusion it is a much larger piece.

Hope to see all your layouts in our gallery.

Happy scrapping,
Jane

QVB ...

Playing along with Archi-scraps this month using this photos as inspiration and the criteria of "domes".

Hmmm, domes I thought.  I've done all my vacations which featured domes and then I suddenly remembered I had some great snaps of the Queen Victoria Building (affectionately known as the QVB) in downtown Sydney.  This building is stunning both inside and out and is heritage listed.  Designed by the architect George McRae it was completed in 1898 and has undergone massive renovation in recent years to become the masterpiece it is today.

It is a beautiful building filled with amazing stained glass windows, decorative tiling, wrought iron balustrades and some outstanding architectural features.

What's in the Bickie tin? for June ...

Welcome to our June challenge for What's in the bickie tin?

This month's requirements are:

Colours: Black & White
Add a banner
Doodle

This month I decided to delve into my stash of project life cards along with the off cuts of patterned paper I keep in a A4 plastic page protector to source some black and white for my page.

I've used an older vintage black and white photo and have run vertical lines alongside the edges of the cards in black pen to frame the space of the blocks.  I have created a little banner on my title card.  Black rhinestones and white enamels dots finish it  all off.

Hope to see all your layouts in our gallery.

Happy scrapping,
Jane

A little blue card ...

It has been a while since I played along with a challenge with UnstampaBelles so there is no time like the present!

This month it is all about Wind and/or Wings and Blue and White.

Apparently you can't use the same link twice so I need to have the card as a separate blog post.

So Card Part 2

I then used what I had left over from my layout to create a little card with appropriate blue ladybirds for the "wings".

A little blue layout ...

It has been a while since I played along with a challenge with UnstampaBelles so there is no time like the present!

This month it is all about Wind and/or Wings and Blue and White.

I decided to do it all and have used whatever blue patterned paper I had in my off cuts basket to put this page together also using a butterfly cutoff strip to add in some physical "wings".  The photo is a lovely scene of clouds and mist rising among the mountains (Blue Mountains west of Sydney) in the early morning.

I then created a little card which I will put into another post.

Soul Scrappers for May ...

Playing along with a number of Soul Scrappers challenges this month ... very happy to be scrapping again!

MBC#26 - Mystery Bag this month is anything Easter.
Always fun to document the consumption of chocolate!

RW42 - Random Word

I selected STYLISH from the list.
Always loved my daughter in this coat ...

International Scrapbooking Day Challenges

Use words, title or phrase from supplied poem.
I used  ... Just as cool as you please ...
I use this technique a lot when I have more photos to add to a page but don't want to do a double layout.  I add 2 or 3 more to a 6x12 pocket page protector.

Photos on your layout must be a circle shape.
I have had this paper in my stash forever - time to use it up!

Feature a tag you have created.
Ahh the end of school when one door closes and the world awaits ...

Taking inspiration from this moodboard ...

I was inspired by the butterflies and the striking blue of the cushions to finally use this lovely photo of my MIL.

What's in the bickie tin? for May ...

Welcome to our May Challenge for What's in the bickie tin?

This month's requirements are;

The colour GREEN (as little or as much as you like)
Add some STRING
Use A STENCIL/MASK

This month I have gone with a very retro feel to showcase a (dare I say it) retro photo.

TIP
This green background paper has been in my stash for a very long time and is the thin paper variety - a clear indication of its age.  To give the paper more stability I adhered it to a piece of card stock from my stash in a ghastly colour I knew I would never use.

Hope to see all your layouts in our gallery.

Happy scrapping,
Jane

27 April 2020

Soul Scrappers ...

I am playing along with a few different challenges at Soul Scrappers at the moment ...

First challenge completed is for Survivor for April where we are asked to create a layout with stars, lots of stars!

I used ink pads to blend onto several pieces of white cardstock in a colour-way to work in with the star patterned paper I had chosen for my page.

I then punched out a lot of stars!  These were added onto the patterned paper to cover the existing stars with glue dots to raise them slightly above the paper - hard to see in the photo but the effect is quite dimensional.

What's in the bickie tin for April ...

Welcome to our April Challenge on What's in the bickie tin ...

This month's requirements are:

The colour Yellow - as little or as much as you like!
Add some Misting
Do some Embossing

I love using yellow so this was a good opportunity to do a bright and happy layout of some cute school memories for my son - gosh this was Kindergarten and he's now at University so a little overdue I think.

I am using yet another older paper range - this one from Theresa Collins and I've added in some embossed card behind the photo.

Hope to see all your layouts in our gallery.

Happy scrapping,
Jane

STG for March ...

Playing along with Scrap the Girls for March with this bright but rather unusual moodboard ...

My first thought was to run with the colours rather than the content so I pulled out the orange, red and green and worked with that.  I found a designer specialty paper that has been in my stash for so long and I never really knew what to do with it, fussy cut out two flowers from the area behind the photo and then added some additional elements to create my page.

What's in the Bickie Tin for March ...

What's in the Bickie Tin for March ...

The colour Pink
Add some Paint
Do some handwriting

Continuing on my theme of using up older paper lines and supplies that have been sitting in my stash mostly unused, this month I pulled out a white Adirondack Lights paint dauber, a few project life cards, a few pieces of patterned paper from my offcuts box and a paper doily and set to work ( I even found some very old Basic Grey feltees in a bottom draw).

Hope you can find time to play along with us this month.

STB February ...

Always fun playing along with Scrap the Boys and I liked their poster inspiration this month so I ran with the idea of playing nice "online".

February 2020 Challenge

Trying to use up a lot of older supplies this year and managed to succeeded with a number of "little things" on this layout.

ARTastic in February ...

Our inspiration on ARTastic this month comes to you from Emma Uber with Lady in a blue hat.

CRITERIA -  Use paint and flowers on your entry

I watered down some pink paint and used the splatter effect for part of my background and then went with a random, bright and colourful design using a number of the colours from the artwork.

Hope to see your amazing layouts in our Facebook gallery.

White with 1 in February ...

Welcome to our February challenge on White with 1.  We thought we might try to be a little different in the sea of red and pink of a valentine month.

  Introducing ....

We hope you like our inclusion of a sketch courtesy of PageMaps to help inspire you further. You don't have to use this to put in an entry but we'd love it if you do :)

I really enjoyed using this sketch and thought it the perfect opportunity to scrap a few island cruise photographs.

We'd love to see how you use our White with 1 colour combination this month. Please come and join in with us!

What's in the Bickie Tin for February ...

The colour White
Add some Chipboard
Use 2 Photos

I use white a lot, in fact it is probably my preference for a background.  Continuing on with my theme of using up older products I pulled out some very old patterned paper and a few stickers from my stash, along with some washi and a few other bits and bobs to complete my page.  I added two chipboard corner edges which I had sprayed with Kaiser mist.

Hope you can find time to play along with us this month.

Scrap the Girls for January ...

Playing along with Scrap the Girls this month and almost forgot to put the entry in ... duh!  Loved the bright and colourful bohemian style moodboard which inspired me to create a page celebrating my daughters birthday using many of the colours and design elements found in the moodboard.

Got to love these bright and happy colours.
